POPO’S Mexican Food in Phoenix, AZ

I recently wrote a blog about Macayo’s…one of the Valley’s most popular Mexican food places…and then I had lunch this week with my friend, Deb Rogers…and we tried POPO’S…which is almost next door to Macayo’s.

Interesting to compare the two. I REALLY liked POPO”S chips. They were crispy and warm. And their menu seemed more updated offering things like Corona Battered Fish Burritos and Chipotle Ranch Chicken Salad. I ordered the El Pollo Especial Muy Rico. It was HUGE…and very good.

I had to stop at half and get a to-go box.

The building used to be a Garcia’s restaurant…but they have given it an updated face lift. Nice decor.

The service was FAST….maybe too fast. We barely got our drinks and our food was out. But they did not rush us to get out when we stayed and visited a bit after we were finished.

The do also have specials. And drink specials. If it was happy hour I would have tried the Italian Margarita…A Popo’s Original – Coconut tequila, amaretto, and sweet and sour. Served straight up with a sugar rim. YUM!

On Monday’s they have an all-you-can- eat taco or bean burrito specials. I should take my hubby as he can really put away some tacos!

They have two Valley locations…the newest one being in Glendale, AZ in the Arrowhead area.

All in all…I would suggest you give POPO’S a try!
